Done.

Geo tagging. I used it when I was trying to decide where to go in the Alps. I looked up other people's pictures and that helped me to pick a place. I picked Seefeld in Tirol. You can see why! (Flickr photo by evgeny drokov)

Podcasts are the greatest things ever. I do like how technology has made it possible to mold entertainment around life instead of vice versa. I have many podcasts I listen to on a regular basis. They are great entertainment when working on a drawing or tedious illustrator file.
Here are some of my favorites:
Radiolab - fabulous science entertainment
This American Life - great tales of the American condition
The Moth - stories told live with no notes
The Changing World - get up to date via the BBC
15 down, one to go.

Research and homework calculators. That's pretty cool actually. I like the concept... I see a few flaws...
A.) Everyone works at different speeds (skill level, IQ, previous knowledge, ADHD)
B.) Every assignment is not the same (studio art assignments tend to take a long time)
C.) Each teacher grades differently (level of expected quality will differ)
I think that if it were more customizable (like my brain) in order to take into account all the variables it would be more accurate. However, I still think it is a good tool for new college students. 14 down, two to go.

Ahh... productivity tools. My computer is already so full of them! I am an exclusive iCalendar user... and I do like that evite has the option of adding events to your calendar. Even evite organizes your parties for you. But there comes a point when you are less efficient when you have too many organizational tools. If you have six different filling cabinets filled with the same stuff, but in different arrangements, what is the point? All you need is one. And again, I worry that we too easily give away such personal information at the inception of a new gadget. 13 down, 3 to go.

5

So I took a look at the "Del.icio.us" site. I think for personal research, not so much. Yes, it's maybe helpful to see what sites are most popular... but doesn't google run on number of hits already? I don't like the idea of someone being able to see what my most frequented sites so easily. I think for a business it might be nice, and it is probably useful to know where a business stands on the tagging hierarchy, but I think I'll leave it at that. 12 down, four to go.

Here's my flickr badge. All about bikes. Possibly useful. Not convinced. 11 down, five to go.

7

Wow! That really is neat. You can use different sites to search Flickr. I used this word site to generate the BIKE sign to the right. Ten down, six to go.

Flickr is a great resource for photos if you can't afford a subscription to Getty Images or such. There are some really fun images on there. Such as this bike... the bullhorn handlebars are very in vogue in Minneapolis right now. (Photo by

Wikipedia is great for a quick find, however is not always perfectly accurate. I signed up for an account and added some things on the Minneapolis page. It's surprisingly easy to use: a very socialist resource. Eight down, six to go.

10

I use google docs for my career development class. It's very useful in collaboration since the class meets only once a week. Our group can share information throughout the week. I also use Ai's doc sharing system to access some syllabi and course assignments. Very handy, very green. Seven down, nine to go.

11

I looked at Digg, Reddit, Newsvine and Mixx. I'm not impressed. I seem to be pretty darn up to date from my 15 minutes of MPR this morning. Still, six down, ten to go.

12

Now you can follow twitter through my blog. Five down, 11 to go.

13

I have a Facebook account, my name is Emily Lyman, go friend me. I have a Linkedin account, click here to view my public profile. Four down, 12 to go.

14

I set up my student e-mail account... and then forwarded it all to my other gmail account. Three down, 13 to go.

15

Now you can subscribe with bloglines. Two down, 14 to go.

16

The countdown begins. Blog started. One down, sixteen to go.
